I’m with everyone else.  Spend the money to fix it permanently.  I’m the same way with my F350 Diesel.  I don’t ever want to break down 1k miles away from home with the camper on vacation.  If something breaks or is in need of replacement, the best part will be installed.

Why can’t the handle(s) be on the “top” bed rail of the tailgate.  Besides, if you put a cap on one of these you would have to open the cap door to open the tailgate anyways.
