As a former Floridian, it's ridiculous - spend any sort of time in the Everglades or near them and you would not be this surprised.

I used to hike in the Everglades all the time - if the gators were up out of the water sunning and saw you coming, they scuttled off. You wouldn't be safe in the water but on land you are OK if not a dog or small child.

Although most of their clothing sucks, Woman Within carries 5-pocket wide leg jeans in denim and twill that are excellent for those of us with thunder thighs. I add a button to take in the waist.
