But isn’t the whole “don’t hit a women” predicated on the idea that they are “softer” and “weaker” by nature? Isn’t that problematic? And if that is the case, than isn’t a bigger man hitting a “softer” and “weaker” man just as wrong? There is nothing wrong with saying that it was wrong for him to hit her, but should

she did. the first person to make a physical attack is the one who started it. What words were said before hand don’t really matter.

The point she grabs on to him and starts hitting him is the point at which it was likely impossible to end the confrontation without getting violent with her. I’m not sure how someone is wearing “grab onto a dude and start hitting him,” but I guess if that’s the clothing style the kids are into these days...

As a 150lb dude, nobody would blink twice if this guy knocked me the hell out after I hit him first. Despite his response still being “disproportionate” and despite him being “much bigger and stronger”.

Why did she hit him? Who started it?

The way I’ve interpreted it is that Margaret still wanted to be pissed about The Ancient One being cast with a white actor even after Tilda explained the reasoning behind it and so she responded with a childish “but... STILL”.

If Swinton came in demanding Cho enlighten her I would 100% agree with your comment; I think burnout from being required to be a cultural ambassador is a very real phenomena that POC experience. But Swinton literally opened with the line: “Tell me to fuck off if you feel like it.” Did their conversation go 100%

Lol don’t worry, white people don’t care about your feelings either.

Can I reply to this sentiment because I am honestly curious about this.

Holy crap this. I have been totally unable to make ANYONE I TALK TO UNDERSTAND THIS.

“Its not my job to teach you even if you ask in earnest but fuck you for not knowing?”

Yes, Margaret Cho is an awful person. That’s what you’re missing.

I’m having difficulty understanding Margaret Cho’s perspective here.

Yes, Margaret Cho is an awful person. That’s what you’re missing.

Being white means nothing in this situation. Here was one human being trying to earnestly relate to another human being of a different culture, and then said other person went on to be a two-faced ass about it for no reason.

I’m having difficulty understanding Margaret Cho’s perspective here. It sounds like Tilda was up front about the issues, expressed her desire to do something about it and sought advice from someone who is in a good position to provide it. And Cho’s responses were thoughtful and measured as well. Not sure what got lost

Yes I’m sure he was worried about having mean things said about him rather than delegitimizing an election in progress.

If Russia, or some other entity, was hacking, why did the White House wait so long to act?

I used to be shocked at how much antisemitism I saw/heard on the left - I guess I thought “we” would know better? IT was the same issue I had first encountering racist gay people - like really? You have to fight for your own civil rights but you’re gonna be racist? IDK. I don’t get it but as a crunchy ass, commie

Not every criticism the left has of Israel is antisemitic, that’s true.
