Maybe, but that same thing is taught to cops. I understand why they are taught it (to protect themselves from fraudulent lawsuits) but in reality becomes a way to abuse the system.

I have a relative by marriage who is a corrections officer. He was proudly speaking one day about how they are taught to yell, “stop resisting” anytime they take someone down so that their use of force is justified. I cannot grasp that kind of idiocy.

This is all a part of power projection. Republicans were all crying about how Obama didn’t project power around the world. Not all of power projection is military bases and military backings. If one country is sending aid and is a strong partner, who do you think they will help in times of need? If the US needs a base…
