Agreed!!! That smarmy douchebag should be disbarred!

Yeah I was confused about that too, I’m not versed in actual law but I was pretty sure that when a mother seems THAT concerned she probably never said “sure you can talk to him without me being present”

The way they shut out his mother was so sketchy too. She doesn’t necessarily have to be in the room but he’s an adolescent with reduced mental capacity, I don’t understand how they got away with not involving her more.

It was so incomprehensible. I was like aren’t you at least supposed to PRETEND to work in the interest of your client?

I actually shouted at my tablet the first time they showed the private investigator’s interview with Brendan where he just railroaded him into a confession. I was just like WHAT IS HAPPENING. I was so glad they revisited it later.

How fucking creepy was Dassey’s lawyer? He was like a cross between Barney Fife and Jerry Lundegaard.

The way his first attorney and that horrifying private investigator railroaded him. To me, that investigator is the most villainous of them all: forcing Brendan to write out another confession which he intended to turn over to the prosecution, crying on the witness stand years later because he was just so sad about

Yes!! How can he be properly Mirandized if he doesn't understand what's going on? It's not a knowing waiver.

You’re absolutely right, it’s not. If it was the purpose, the defense would have been allowed to float other theories as to who killed Theresa, when there were SO MANY other people who had opportunity, who had violent pasts (Steven’s brothers, Scott Tadych) who lived on the compound. But they were banned from doing so.

At least in the job worked I believe that having an IQ below 70 and a 4th grade reading level would qualify as an intellectual or learning disability. I’m not in the posistion to diagnose obviously, but he reminded me strongly of many kids I worked with, and it was pretty clear he did not understand his situation, the

Oh my gosh yes, you're so right. They had a responsibility to him and betrayed him in the cruelest way possible. Like that Len guy is a fucking joke of a human and should be disbarred.

Oh god and when they asked him about losing weight because they were trying to pin him with a guilty conscience and it was because kids had been mean to him at school and his girlfriend broke up with him. His face just looked so heartbroken. Ugh man, I don't think and hope I never do forget this kid.

There were a lot of upsetting things in the series, but him being used as he was as a means to an end deeply upset me. I wish it would lead to more outrage in how persons with mentally disabled persons are treated and manipulated in all sorts of situations, interrogations being a big obvious one.

I was also disgusted by the prosecutor’s “reasonable doubt is for innocent people”.

Ten years into his sentence, hoping he could go home and have a family some day, wrecked me. I was sobbing and felt as though I was hit by a truck.

Poor kid, just wants to go home and watch wrestlemania

Watch the documentary. Then read Kratz’s response to it, and you’ll see how empty the criticism of it is. Also, the filmers were working on this project loooong before it was picked up by Netflix.

I was never completely sure about Avery’s guilt or innocence, but none of the evidence they used to nail him should have been admissible. They need to test that blood again. There was absolutely a frame job by that department. There was just such a huge window for reasonable doubt. And Brendan Dassey has no business

I think the vast majority aren’t really saying if he’s guilty or innocent but that he quite obviously didn’t receive a fair trial. Without question, his nephew didn’t. If you can watch the nephew’s confession tapes and not feel gutted at how the system can railroad somebody, you simply aren’t human.

I find it really hard to comprehend the evil that was done to Brendan Dassey. I definitely was involved and emotional watching the series but I broke down in tears seeing the footage of him from this year, ten years into his sentence. The men who interrogated him, not to mention the prosecution are evil incarnate.
