Love that film. It’s a bit weird seeing Jackie Chan slum it in Belfast and fight these realistic, down-to-earth IRA villains, but it’s a great little movie.

I’m not sure this is really true. From my recollection, as soon as the nutjobs started touting ivermectin, a bunch of people tried to get it prescribed. When doctors understandably refused to do so, they went for the horse stuff. I didn’t hear anyone, even the anti-vaxxers, actively pushing people to it. Rogan

used to preach about treating COVID-19 with horse medicine

The thought process of “I want to write a memoir” (arguably the most personal form of writing) leading to “I must first find out how many words it should be” followed by “let’s not forget to develop a vividness index”

Yeah, I wasn’t gonna say anything but I did get some ASD vibes from that blog post.

For sure, I was being a touch hyperbolic there - although I also thought, from what he’d said, that maybe he still hasn’t written his memoir (in fact, he has).

Don’t get me wrong[...]

This guy’s stated thought process is so bizarre to me that I actually find it kind of endearing (although I suppose it’s possible that he’s only saying it to give himself cover). Like, he wanted to write a memoir, so of course the first step is to compile a database of 25,000 books to count all the words and analyze

I thought that line was just AV Club snark when I read it (and some pretty good snark, too). But no, the guy actually says that in the article.

Fair. Based on the clips I’ve seen, people were definitely throwing stuff at police, definitely throwing at least one firework, and definitely jumping on/stomping cars at one point. It’s unclear what happened beforehand though, so I was holding off judgment there. If what you say about Cenat is true, though, then yeah

I have never seen a more deliberately obtuse take on this site before.

Are you following me or something?

What part of “routine” sounds like this was only one trip rather than a specific trip out of many?

Everything I’ve seen and heard of Kai Cenat makes me think he’s a massive idiot, and by extension so are his fans.

Haha could be... I think ‘humility’ is the generally accepted expression; but I heard it first as ‘modesty’ and stuck with it.

I realize this thread’s dead, but for posterity’s sake... I’ve been thinking about this a bit more, and actually, you’re right. I will take the L on this point; actually only one of the strips clubs I’ve been to had a problem with us not getting a dance, the others were fine. I was wrong!

Agreed! To be clear, I’m not a history buff so I won’t know as much about this stuff as you do, but I have also gotten into the habit of reading up on historical dramas after I’ve watched them to fact-check stuff (or sometimes because I’m arguing with someone on here, admittedly). Not necessarily historical dramas

Even if we did go the “maximum fidelity” route, who decides what’s faithful? There’s still plenty of argument, even between expert scholars, about what the real history is for just about any historical topic or personage of any interest.

Interesting. Maybe I can start going to strip clubs again...

As others have said, there were journalists who mentioned it before, so at least he didn’t just make it up.
