Makes you wonder why they don’t just build their own VFX studio at this point. Surely having an in house team that works alongside the director much like a DOP does would mitigate a ton of issues like this.

The thing is, it’s the industry setting them up for failure. The VFX studios themselves are the ones cutting costs and making their employees overworked since they’re working on lowest bid contracts (and presumably putting more staff onto more lucrative projects).
I love MCU stuff and have been drinking up the increased output. But I’d side with labor over my own mother (not a huge problem, she’s a real jerk) and I’m absolutely in favor of paying these pals more to do a lot less. If that means we only get one movie and one TV show a year, and Secret Wars comes along in 2038…
This is really just confirming what a bunch of people have already figured out. Marvel relies too much on CGI work that is done by overworked and underpaid artists and hasn’t been properly integrated into the rest of the movie. It shouldn’t be the understaffed VFX team’s responsibility to restructure the third act at…
He can do what he wants; just say you don’t sway our way and keep it moving, son.
I really wanna avoid joining in on this generalization but the absolute weirdos on both sides of my family just happen to be JWs.
A lot of people wonder why he’s so weird. And sure, some of it is being into nerd culture, but he was also raised Jehovah’s Witness. If you know other black families in that religion, they are *very* insular and only socialize with other JWs.
I’m quite fond of Turning Red too.
I have never seen Rick And Morty. I’d argue there was a more prominent film example of shifting timelines and possible universes in the Wachowski’s Cloud Atlas (2012), and surely these writers were aware of it. The film received a lot of bad press, but it’s an underrated gem, imo.
i think it pretty much went on record that this isn’t about the direct notoriety, more the byproduct of having some fame...it’s a show about the stuff between the cracks...purposely letting the big things we’d want to see, like Albert hitting the stage, live outside the edges of the mise en scene to expand the scope…
Can confirm. Yes. The actor is Tobias Segal. It’s not only the same actor. It’s the same actor in the same wardrobe.
Except [it seemed to me, I’ve only watched once] the first person she pushed in was a waitstaff? Dressed in all black and carrying a couple of drinks?
Hate to say it but it’s because a lot of pop culture tv writers don’t have the proper framing or cultural knowledge to draw from, to fully explore the themes of this uniquely black and nerdy show. Glover is a blerd (I say as a blerd myself), a lot of his weird nerd shit really hits with my white nerd friends, but…
Exactly! Also the turning point in Earns decision to help with the scam. If they became billionaires through being colonizers, then why not? Plus the guys practically begging them to take his money to assuage his guilt.
Wonder if that’s why she stole something, too.
The reason Van was pushing people in the pool is the same reason dude was scamming them. They were billionaires because they were first bank in Cape Town, South Africa. Van wasn’t staring at the art. She was staring at that pic.
I’m in the DC area too - there are a bunch here. (Woodley Park, Tenleytown, Dupont, chinatown, etc.) I’ve found some dishes are better than others, but when they’re good, they’re quite good. My go-to these days is three boneless thighs (mango and lime sauce) with garlic bread - great dinner, and then leftovers for…
Not sure how much patience I’m going to have for “Nothing makes sense, but hey, that’s Atlanta!” reactions all season. That seems like a cop-out from holding the show to any kind of narrative standard.
“Teddy Perkins” is still my favorite of the season, but this was a close second. Al’s breakdown when he finally made it out of the woods gave me chills. This season damn sure better earn this show an Emmy.
I yelled at the TV, “‘Foot in it’ is not literal!!”
