You shouldn’t call them “pro-life”, call them “no-choice” (or something similar). One of the major reasons pro-choicers are losing this battle is because they allow the Right wide leeway to dictate the terms of the debate. That’s why we see the Orwellian rebranding of “feminism” coming out of the mouths of no-choicers…
Eh, I think that saying “life begins at conception” has a very different connotation than just discussing “life,” because our legal system codifies different types of lives in very different ways, and I don’t think that it boils entirely down to the “amount of control we give the government over our bodies” as you…
1: They won’t ‘move on’ because what does that even mean really? Go back to osessing over “real” celebrities? It’s exactly the same shit that people have always done just with different people that are on the whole less experienced at hiding how shitty they are. 2: Everybody has things they’re interested in. I like…
I appreciate that there’s something wonky in our society when a person mistreating a dog often generates outrage that mistreating a fellow person doesn’t always but...still, it’s there and I don’t fight it and this person is lousy and does not deserve to have a dog and I would like various bad things to happen to her.
When are people going to move on from YouTube celebrities. They are useless and unnecessary, basically human nuisances. I don’t even understand how it’s entertaining to watch .
Exactly this. I was a mix of Kat and Rue myself. You put it far better than I could.
It’s amazing to me how many people look at something that might be different from their own personal experience and immediately go “well it’s not how it was for me so it must be unrealistic”. While the show doesn’t reflect my own experience at all, I’m not so arrogant as to think that alone makes it unrealistic.
Your review is spot on. All anyone is talking about is how over the top and unrealistic the show is. I am now 32 and in all my years this is the most realistic representation of my time in high school that I’ve seen in literature, tv, film, whatever. I see myself at that age in Rue completely.
Ive eaten at the sexless hooters, but it was called buffalo wild wings. Way to enter an oversaturated market.
I’d be more embarrassed if someone I knew saw me walking out of a Hooters than if they saw me walking out of a strip club. At least the strip club is being honest with itself. Hooters is just sad.
“White supremacy isn’t an issue in this country. But you know what is a major problem? All the black and brown people.”
I think that [that line] is not so much being like, Kat suddenly finding out that fat people can be beautiful. It’s all about taking that pressure away. It’s more like, “I don’t give a fuck.”
I’ve been hoping to see a deep dive article with this actress, so this was a fantastic read. A lot of media focus has been on Zendaya, Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi (which is totally deserved as they are all fantastic on the show) but its gratifying to read an in-depth interview on one of the ‘supporting’ characters.
Such a great read - Thanks BARBIE and ASHLEY!!
After Trump repeatedly called them “failing,” the NYT decided the best course of action was to prove him right.
Perhaps a third last-minute change is the charm?
What on Earth are you talking about? ... or expecting from a movie like this? It was fun from start to finish!
I kept thinking “WHY IS NO ONE SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?!” A part cyborg man was far more believable than that bike was.
Has nobody pointed out that Elba’s character has a motorcycle that changes moves on it’s own and changes shape. And, every time it changes shape you hear the Transformers noise? Because that’s a thing that happens.
