Also Zabriski Point except for the explosion at the end and to a lesser extent the desert of sex is terrible. Blowup is also a truly terrible film. Red Desert is a good film though.

Inception and the Prestige. Come to think of it, nearly everything that Christoper Nolan has ever filmed. The Samurai, though in its defense its almost a dungeon and dragons archetype at this point.

The Captain American films are films are clearly the best Marvel films in a fairly bland universe.

I find it almost baffling why people early 60s Godard to be the best. Alot of these films are good but large parts of them left me cold. As much as I love Godard, his films are often better in retrospect then when actually watching them.

I remember the Joy of learning being alright which dates roughly from the political era, through saying this i won't want to see it again. The whole idea of these revolutionaries sitting in a video room between demos as oddly romantic. Naive sure.

Yeh Weekend is a strange film. I think it is easily one of the most amazing films ever but it is also strangely boring……Saying this, alot of avant-garde art has a similar problem.

I am playing Black Hawk Down which I haven't played since I was a kid. Very arcadie with health packs, weapons you can't pick up and AI that is truly stupid. I knew it wasn't the best game but I can remember thinking it was a lot more complex/cinematic.

I am sure that this has been said before but wasn't MLK literally a preacher of some kind…..Wouldn't an extensive discussion of MLK require a discussion of Jesus/The Bible? Movies like this made me what happened to the proper fundamentalists rather then the cash hungry Evangelicals that currently exist.

At least Anna Kendrick says I am a T-Rex hear me roar after killing Ziggy from the Wire…Yeh this isn't a good movie, even though it has Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell.

As a foreigner I know the correct answer to this America makes no sense.

This is a really interesting area of discussion, as the majority of bannings seem to be what we would consider arcane or obscure criticism. I also find most of the dissidents works cough Boris Pasternak at best to be subpar works. At worst these dissidents seemed to be no different from the various nonsense cold war

I have heard that East Germany? made a series of Westerns that had the indigenous as the protagonists.

The Strugatsky's are slowly being republished in English.
