For sure, but Archie is crushing hard, that's why I used that word. He certainly thinks he's in some story of unrequited love.

I actually like the women's storyline part of it and didn't see it as torturing men, more getting back at horrible people by playing dirty themselves. I saw it more as using someone's schtick against them. On that level, it worked for me.

I thought the same thing. I realize they are playing fast and loose with pretty much all the characterizations. But making Chuck into an unredeemable douchebag? Okay, then

This Grundy romance - ugh. And now she's getting her own mystery. DO NOT CARE. Unless maybe it allows the show to move on from this storyline.

I'm mostly here for the comic adaption and small town noir aspects. I've never been much of a fan of singing in otherwise non-musical entertainment. Also not a fan of Nashville or Glee, etc.

I too could do without the musical interludes. While I like Josie as a character, I'd rather see her acting and an active part of storylines, rather than trying to awkwardly shoehorn in awkward musical performances. I'm not really interested in seeing Archie pursue his musical career either.

Maybe. I should clarify though that I don't necessarily think that it works, just that maybe it's on purpose. Or at least the intent is on purpose: to give a suggestion of characters stepping off a comics page. But it's too overdone and heavy-handed.

I think it's Sprouse too. I was skeptical of his casting because of the saccharine twin sitcom roots, but he's got the character's non-hostile aloofness down pat.

For Cheryl, it's not specifically her hair, more like her makeup and how they apply it I guess. Her face looks sculpted/drawn to me at times. Really like a comic book character.

Oh yeah - she was the aunt, right? Cheerful/nice/saucy Amick is the best Amick.

I feel like Jughead is the best page-to-screen character adaptation so far.

For me it's the the jarring contrast between the sketchy hair/dye job and the eyebrows. But when I look up classic comic pictures of Archie he also has those mighty mighty eyebrows. So I guess it's on purpose, albeit distracting.

Thanks. I know my local channels often don't include the "next week on this show" promos they run at the end of the hour, so was wondering if this product placement thing was also something that is commonplace but left out of international airings.

Compared to Jason, Ronald has a magnificently tanned complexion.

I've always liked Madchen Amick, but I find it really unsettling to see her in this mean/bitter mom role.

He is not the only one. A few of them look really cartoony and I was sort of thinking that it's intentional and the makeup department genuinely meant to do that. Cheryl too. And Jason - especially Jason.

Truly. It is "Saved by the Bell" levels of cringeworthy.

Riverdale. Come for the noir-esque teen angst. Stay for the cringe-worthy vicarious embarrassment.

Me too. I've been avoiding most of the promotion for this show to go in as green as possible. I was hoping for more along the line of Parents or Eating Raoul. I'll still watch but I'm a tiny bit disappointed.
