His comments on the PS2 version of HL are odd, given that it had an engine, model, and texture upgrade versus the PC version. You could use a USB mouse and keyboard, and get an exact gameplay parity with the PC version.

@Chris Taylor: No, it's not for games. It's a general approach to mapping that allows you to mix a clear view of your immediate surroundings as they appear (nearby part of the image) with a schematic view of the larger area (distant part of the image).

SCEA famously don't like certain genres and will not approve them. 2D games suffer the most. So it wouldn't be surprising if they refused to publish the previous games and won't approve this one.

@Elliuotatar: It's a design patent. They haven't patented the idea of a sensor bar stand, just that exact shape for one. It's the equivalent of a Registered Design in Europe, it just gives you protection from someone directly copying your product aesthetics.

No great shock there, seeing as the real MGS4 goes on to... fighting robots and a beat-em-up stage.

@lcc1357lh: Nothing any more sophisticated than your own tests, I'm sure. Probably calls for something more serious. We need to Mythbust this one way or the other I think!

@zmnatz: Cell reception inside refrigerators is not known for its amazingness, anyway.

The "use your head to extend cell range" thing is a myth. Holding the keyfob up at head height has exactly the same effect. You can't use the human head, or any other body of flesh, as an effective passive retransmitter. "Induction" is what's needed, not "condution", unless you're splicing your head into the circuit

I think they may have misunderstood what's going on there. Temperature increases the chemical processes that degrade a lithium-ion battery, reducing its usable capacity. This process is irreversible. Cooling a battery down once this process has halved its capacity will do nothing to restore that capacity.

Clearly a complete tosser. The Vectrex had a monitor for a very good reason, and the games thus looked like nothing you could get on a TV "in 1977". Or 2008 for that matter.

BaSS was released into the public domain years ago. At least half a decade, probably more.

I doubt they actually had legal problems from the composer (singular), seeing as he's dead and buried. I'd be interested to see Hibino's original wording here.

Mr. X Ate A Genitals.

Sounds appealingly dark and RoboCop-esque. You have this innocent - a kid instead of Murphy in this case - whose humanity is taken away as they're turned into this faintly disturbing weapon, but they emerge as a hero in the end. It should appeal to any studio looking for a movie to go up against the new RoboCop

I think I'll take jangling keys over constantly folding and unfolding a Leatherman any day. Also less likely to get me beat up at airport security. ;) Very elegant though, a nice piece of work.

I think anyone who's using Outlook as their email client is making some sort of error in principle, regardless of the app's usability. It's a marvellous tool for a whole lot of office tasks (announcing/arranging meetings, global address books, etc.), but for personal email you're only using about 10% of the

OIC, it's already been pointed out. ;)

This is old news, isn't it? They set it up in response to the bad press they were getting because of SP1 install issues. It only applies to problems with the installation or use of SP1.
