The lower headlamps and grille on this car ruin the design - the bonnet (hood) has to curve down too far to meet it and stops it from having a clean horizontal stylistic cue from front to back.

Federal scientist here. The raw data we collect has to go through a time-consuming check/approval process before it’s fit for public consumption because people rely on that data for recreation/agriculture/infrastructure/construction. Our data is also collected and transmitted via telemetry, which like NASA’s, isn’t…
Did you cry tears of joy whilst writing this article?
Nailed it!
No, I think you’re absolutely right, Jim. If nothing else, concept cars look even more dated and tacky than their production brethren after ten years. I recall it being very good-looking in the context of 2006.
This, can’t agree with this more. I was only 11 at the time I first saw this concept on the cover of AutoWeek next to the Challenger concept, and my dad told me, “If they sold that, I’d sell everything we own just to have it.”
I know. this crowd doesn’t know what they don’t know, and sadly they’re proud of that.
And thankfully, Lincoln did a much better job doing it than Chrysler did back in ‘06.
No, this is absolutely not the fault of the manufacturers. They do not make any profit at all at theese sub 3000USD cars, or if they do, it is for sure less than 100USD per car.
Well, they could engineer it up to euro or north american standards but it would cost more. Then they wouldn’t sell any. None. Zero. Or they could sell them for less than it takes to make them. How long would that last? So, is it an evil capitalistic company, or is it just how things work in an economy that is decades…
Because it risks hurting the emerging market’s industry, by creating a much higher barrier to entry to the market. An indigenous manufacturer then has to meet the same developed nation safety standards, without the benefit of a subsidy paid for by developed nation car customers.
Ahhh, okay. I almost bought a 3 cylinder geo as a beater years ago. Still wish I would have.
Oh yes, bring on the internet scholars who know more about what the Danish Air Force needs then the Danish Air Force!
Actually form over function would be putting a giant intercooler in the mouth of a car designed to live in a city, drive in a city, and park in a city.
A one time fee of a few hundred million$???????????
I absolutely love mine. A really decent daily commuter. Here’s a pic I took of it yesterday.
I’m amused by the fact that everybody shits all over this idea, despite the fact that the beloved Audi does the same thing. It’s just a platform folks, this isn’t 1986 where they’ll slap another grill on it and call it a day. The Camaro and the ATS are on the same platform as well.
For the readers who do care: Trax and Encore are based off the Opel Mokka, all Gamma platforms, same as the Spark and Corsa. Delta is the Cruze, Astra and Verano, so it is a larger platform. I’m not surprised they’re trying this with Cadillac, but to be successful, it better have some exclusivity built into it - like…
It was before my time on this planet as well haha.
You forgot the best part.
