I have said this before and it never stops being true: Donnie sounds like someone trying to have a serious conversation on a ball of cocaine. I really can’t listen to him talk, and when I read the shit he said, he sounds like a puppy that has too many shiny objects and noise makers around it.

(unintelligible screaming)

Try to ship it overseas for profit.

Since it’s in Miami I would think you steal it, put it in a shipping container and then sell it somewhere halfway around the world.

Is it tiring having to couch every fucking thing in terms of liberals vs conservatives?

Because everything has to have a red and blue side, even the death of a Navy SEAL.

Are you kidding or just very dumb?

All sushi cuts are flash frozen.

Actually they do have the authority to state what is valid, that’s why the TSA was able to get away with banning people. This was already upheld.

That’s not the racist part. Making someone bus themselves 100-200 miles and pay 40 dollars is the racist part since it specifically targets those people who can least afford it, while those who can usually have drivers licenses.

But don’t forget that some states, like Alabama, made it very difficult for people to get IDs. In their case, due to “budget reasons”, they closed all but two or three DMVs in the state. Meaning that some people had to drive up to four hours each way on a weekday to get a license/ID. That’s incredibly

It’s not the idea of IDs for voters. It’s the implementation of getting an ID. If you’re able-bodied, of means, and know where your birth certificate is, the idea of getting an ID seems pretty easy and reasonable.

Make them 1) free and 2) super easy to get, and people wouldn’t gripe as much. The issue with Voter ID isn’t about protecting the vote as much as it is about keeping certain eligible people from voting. And lets not pretend it is anything else; enough people have been caught telling the truth about this.

You’re going to find this sort of sad (or funny) but a lot of it has to do with the whole mark of the beast Evangelical crowd. A lot of friction about this, especially in southern states is due to that. That and the fact that if the Feds actually got around to standardizing a valid identification card (with address)

Now playing

The issue is that in some Southern states there are damn few places to go to get your ID. It takes a whole day and often giving up a day’s pay from your shitty job in addition to whatever the fee is.

Generally, the problem is that no one requires them for voting until right before an election, and no one offers to provide help to the people trying to get an ID but don’t have the resources. It’s not a solution addressing any real problem, it’s a transparent ploy to prevent a certain demographic from voting

“but it isn’t like you actually need the background to run pretty much any government agency.”

Honestly, I think general competence is likely enough to handle most agencies which is why Perry is a bad pick, not because he doesn’t have the background. The DOE (at least to my knowledge) has done okay with lawyers and governors and businessmen for the 30 years prior to the prior three secretaries. I just assume

Michael Huerta, while not knowing how to fly a plane or do air traffic controlling, is extremely experienced in transportation logistics and has held senior positions in the U.S. Transportation Department prior to landing the FAA role. My point is knowing how a thing works is actually vital to doing a decent job of

A quick google shows Bush II was the first person to put people with any scientific background as Secretary of Energy (Bodman) and Obama(Chu, Moniz) continued and strengthened the scientific background in that role. I realize the implication is that we should have someone who knows about Nuclear Weapons or Energy
