Sure, I bet you aren’t a bigot at all! I bet that’s why you felt a need to bring this shit up, unprompted, basically to tell trans folks to know their place.

to think trans women have an “outsized” voice within feminism is so gorram laughable I don’t even know how to respond, so here is a gif

Yep. “So in solidarity with people who can’t stop working, we are taking the evening off.” Wow. Misogyny is solved!

It’s a very privileged thing to do to just stop working.

I liked “San Junipero” a lot, but am I the only one who thinks it’s overrated?

Awww, little King Trash Mouth thinks he’s a good President.

You knew it was coming!

The woman is in the home stretch of yet another difficult pregnancy, and is under pressure to produce, as a royal baby-maker. I can see why, even though Time’s Up shouldn’t be political, she wants to find some middle ground and avoid making any waves, either way. People perceive the movement as political, and she’s

“Can we stop vilifying women who aren’t doing Times Up well enough?”

This is such bullshit. I’m no fan of the royals, but she puts her money where her mouth is in terms of actually helping causes out, rather than just wearing black once and never doing anything else to help. Surely the James Franco mess has shown that just wearing the right colour / pin to an even means nothing.

She’s not allowed to make political statements. William is president of Bafta. Why should she sit out? Can we stop vilifying women who aren’t doing Times Up well enough?

Honestly I don’t think that would be a great way to write out the character. Our medical needs get stigmatized enough as it is without our own version of “dead lesbian syndrome.”

I dunno, I think that might overstate the dangers and risks involved with the surgery, when we really don’t need to further stigmatize trans folks or the transition process. What if she just died of something super common like a heart attack or a school shooting?

People’s resilience and ability to not be physically harmed by words is not a reason to perpetuate demeaning and hateful expressions, even if they’ve lost some of that ugliness over time. I get what you’re saying here (they’re only words, right?), but this concept of “people just shouldn’t take it the wrong way” is

The core problem is that you don’t care how you come across to other people. You want to say what you want to say and you don’t care how it is received (or rather, how it is received will not stop you saying what you want to say).

“I’m not doing them for vanity’s sake, I’m doing it because even if it’s just a few people who enjoy it they still want me to provide them.” And

“I hope you understand but I can’t keep just posting less because eventually I’ll be posting on one article a day and then I might as well just go away completely.”

Thanks for the well reasoned reply, I do appreciate it.

I’ve never had a personal problem with you. I suspect we are around the same age, and we definitely live in the same country. I have noticed, however, that you do make yourself at online home in places where others wouldn’t necessarily do.
