You misunderstand the type of rape jokes I think are acceptable/unacceptable.

Did you read the big paragraph in the middle? Where I talk about exactly that? Where I explicitly call out the primary objection to this analogy as exactly what you said and provide my counter to that, which you not only didn't do a good job of addressing but flatly contradicted in a single sentence equivalent of

...no? Not sure where you got that.

The reactions are unconscionable, but the given suggestions are too limiting. The way of thinking that rape jokes must have punchlines targeting the rapist or the culture is effectively saying that it is never the case that one particular bad thing happening to a person can be funny. And that's not true.

It's difficult to explain without giving examples, but not quite.

I have actually seen a PTSD joke animated into a hyper-violent cartoon. It wasn't particularly funny, but given that the cartoon was already hyper-violent it was unlikely that people made uncomfortable by that kind of violence would be in the audience. So I don't see it as problematic. The animators and writers

I don't have any statistics, but I'll gladly give you that most rape jokes are horrible just on the basis that most jokes about anything are not particularly good.

I happen to be a big proponent of giving people the benefit of the doubt and not assuming malice where ignorance will suffice (AND following that up with pointing them in the right direction, because somebody's gotta do it)...

You're taking an entirely different approach I hadn't addressed at all. You're saying rape jokes are bad because they have a negative effect on rape victims. That's totally valid! Every joke can have a negative effect on somebody who's had a bad experience with the topic in the past, and it's important to consider

I agree, people say "she deserved it" all the time. And what are they doing when they say that?

I'm not even paying attention to the conversation, but I love this gif so much.

Nope. Not a free speech argument at all.

Hate time, since this is one topic where I'm dead set against the general consensus of most every shard of feminism.

But why male models?

A few of Reddit's "big stars" already covered it:

Such men exist.

Quick, somebody who works for a major pornographic site please give us your traffic numbers and your marketshare! We have math to do!

I can dredge up nothing weirder because I have no such memories to draw from. On the plus side, if you stay single forever then your significant other can never lie to you.

Are you sure? I have reason to believe dating is a myth. It can't be the worst if it's not real.

users get to do exactly what we all do in social settings anyway: judge people based on appearance alone
