Having gender be flexible, sure. That's a good idea for a middle ground. But if it's self determined with no other qualifiers then that's not flexible, that's nothing.

It's not that it's a social construction that's the problem. It's that it's a social construction that sentences like the one I quoted are making meaningless.

You're a dude if you say you're a dude.

People get sick of topics they aren't that interested in, which is why having diverse interests and talking about different things is good. If your Facebook feed is only ever one type of post, people are ignoring you because of it.

You didn't understand my point at all. The point of advertising isn't for your benefit. It's for the benefit of the company. The point is that it's a way for a company to get some value out of something they don't charge money for.

For those doing penetration:

Sure. I'm not suggesting you let every website run roughshod over your computer.

Selective NoScript over here.

Ads are the price you pay for free services. Advertising is how a website that offers you value, but doesn't charge you anything in return, makes money.

Can't fault you for that. I've certainly stretched the limits of plausibility/comedy further to satisfy an urge to say a particular line.

The third one makes sense for me. The second one I guess, but not really. The top one, though? WAT. I did not serve. Nobody in my family served. Of every single person I know, I know like two people who ever did anything like serve.

Yes... why I do believe it's the rare double whoosh.

I don't subscribe to the belief that violent video games cause violence (or that misogynistic porn causes misogyny) so I'm already on track with you there, and that isn't what I was trying to talk about.

You can recognize good and call out bad at the same time. True story. Watch.

I recommend not assuming you know anything about me, because I'm willing to bet that I play more games than you do. And I am incredibly familiar with what's come before, what comes now, and I even have a pretty good idea of what will come (soon) after.

Thought:

Okay, there's still some gap in communication here, or you'd understand me perfectly by now.

You've done a great job of showing one reason it would affect women and not myself. Yours is exactly the kind of reply I was expecting/hoping for yesterday.

I have seen this exact quote before (and read more than one article using it, though I'm not sure if I've read the original), and I can understand exactly the type of eyeroll this sort of thing brings up. If that's how this seems, then all makes sense as to why I was leapt upon.

You appear to have lost your quote.
