Forgot to add - I find it INCREDIBLY SUSPECT when someone can be so supportive of women's issues (the sharp response to this journalist, for instance) but so dismissive of racial issues.

That depends entirely on the writing. A token character of color is defined largely by their ethnicity - there to 'keep it real' and say things like "word to your motha!"
I get why the question irked people - especially since it included Game of Thrones as a reference point. But Apatow IS a jerk and the guy's blog post does go a long way in explaining where he was coming from.

The water tip is a win. Think about it - you've basically super dehydrated in the morning, having just gone 8 or so hours without anything. A nice bottle of water first thing in the morning goes a long way.

Well, from what I know about the DR (not too much, my best friend spent her time in the Peace Corps there and I have a few Dominican friends) it can be a very fucked up place in terms of race and skin color, culturally speaking. That her father is Dominican actually kind of makes sense to me.
