Um, I'm well aware of it means. Research (I'm pretty sure from the Austrian Academy of Sciences) suggest that Cleopatra was part African.
Actually, there are many surviving coins and paintings of Cleopatra, and lots of archeological evidence suggesting she was part Greek/Persian and part African.
Maybe no one wants to see another white woman play Cleopatra again.
I also think it highlights another issue (although less glaring) - Deschanel and Williams both appear on a television show. That's it. Williams isn't even the lead. Poehler (slightly older than the average Elle cover subject) and Kaling (a minority in skin tone and size) both create/write/produce/host/run shit. If you…

It's very off-brand although I can sort of maybe potentially see why they went with - no one had more buzz last year than she did.

Does she like eating?? Is she a regular girl like us?? Does she look like a young Helen Mirren?
IMO Leo is too good for the Oscar by now. Like Peter O'Toole was during his acting career. Really memorable and varied individual performances in an overall strong body of work.
Good point - I wonder if there's an exemption for religious purposes.
If Lupita doesn't have awards thrown at her (that entire film actually) then it'll be genuinely fucked up.
