This is ridiculous. Does anybody think there are festival organizers out there saying “We just found a GREAT musical act; people love this act, it will attract TONS of festival-goers and ticket sales will be through the roof!! But there’s a problem: She’s a woman.” “Well then, scrap THAT idea. Is Smashmouth still

The woman in the photo is the exact reason I don’t do music festivals anymore. I can smell the BO and patchouli from here.

That is stupid. Men and women are not identical. Trying to force them to be does not work.

I will never understand the full out Jennifer Lawrence hatred on this site. Except for the whole “build a woman up simply to tear her down piece by piece immediately after” mentality that unfortunately infects this place all too often. It’s gross and I hate it.

Agree. Always liked that one. That and “Rain.”

Now playing

The best Madonna song is and always will be Like a Prayer.

Beyond all that (which I think is an extremely valid analysis of celebrity culture), let’s look at J-Law’s post-Hunger Games choices:

I couldn’t stand Passengers but I kinda, sorta feel bad for her. I like her. She has a nice personality and she fights for some good causes. It sucks that the media culture exaggerated her *relatibility* and kept writing 400 articles about her and how quirky she is, which no doubt put extra pressure on her to maintain

The etiquette you follow is that it’s good and gracious to simply say thanks to the people who offer condolences. Any normal human being would have ignored SJP’s condolences or simply said ‘thanks’ and moved on. Kim has serious issues.

Here’s the thing: I don’t think SJP is some sort of angel. Her public persona is nearly as annoying as Carrie Bradshaw. She just seems cloying and wholly inauthentic. However, the fact that Cynthia Nixon, who does come off as intelligent and thoughtful about the world around her based on her interviews and political

Ha! I remember when I was in 8th grade, having such a crush on that young fellow in “Witch of Blackbird Pond”. And still to this day, decades later, I dream of traveling from my beloved desert home to the Maritime Provinces and New England, with a dream of spending a good chunk of time on the coast there, both

The Witch of Blackbird Pond is a GREAT book. I’d add “And Both Were Young” to this list—more overtly romantic than A Wrinkle in Time. And now I want to look up your other ones!

Valley of the Horses, full stop. Opened up a whole new vista of cave-(wo)man sexytimes. Also Jondalar has a giant dick, apparently, and invented cunnilingus.

The corruption of our youth by Canadians will not stop unless we halt this ice-dancing filth in its track. What’s next? They pause in the middle of their seductive dance to hand out leaflets on the need for a universal health-care system?

I don’t think this is really the same. Amy isn’t wrong- what Aziz did isn’t illegal. But, like Amy said, what he did still isn’t acceptable and can do a lot of damage to the woman on the receiving end.

Your points are valid, but will you be boycotting Netflix for Mo’nique and wage inequities? Are you boycotting NFL football? What are you doing on behalf of the lack of Asian representation in film? Have you started a letter writing campaign against Catherine Zeta Jones for playing (another) Latina - even though she’s

I can’t be bothered with her music (it bores me to tears) but this poem is so powerful. I will admit to having a new level of respect for her now.

what excuse would you make if I told you a black woman disagrees with you? cause this one right here disagrees with you.

This attitude of Nik’s is toxic. WoC came to these marches, we stepped up, and I can tell you right now there were a LOT of marches going on around the country that were not white women. To dismiss hundreds of thousands of WoC (including me) that showed up at these marches because “I’ll wait for our own” ....yea, way
