Adult Sibling Relationship Thread, Anyone? I have seen a few threads discussing sib relationships, but didn’t want to hijack. I need advice. My brother wants to be close, but I can’t be close with him because I feel like our relationship just isn’t honest. And recently things got reality-show bad.

I am so sorry for your loss. I genuinely love my in-laws too, and I have an ok relationship with my parents, but my in-laws fill a gap that has always been there, a need for other kinds of mothering and mentoring...I can’t imagine how hard your situation must be. I hope you and your husband find peace.

The devil in me wants to say “get the new gf and the ex-wife the EXACT SAME THING, JUST TO START SOMETHING.” But you seem like you want to be kind. I think it would be nice to get her something if you like her, and think she is going through a hard time.
