Thanks for the pro-tip on interior space. After 4,325 coolant leaks and a variety of alien behaviors from the electrical system, my S4 avant needs a replacement!

There is very little supply of these in good condition (for an 80s trucklet). High, but NP

LS swap in these is tough. Less room than you think. Opel / vaxhall C20LET is a much easier swap.

Do report back on oppo how it turns out!

The story with the K03s is that the earlier units were way more likely to fail than later (this is later) and if you made it 60 to 70k over 10 years you are probably good.

The Jesuits are not your normal Catholics. Pope Francis reminds me a lot of the more fun loving professors I had at a Jesuit university. Humble, funny, aware that the world is a mess and needs change, and above nothing but the Heavenly Father, a love for booze!

So what is the story with "reverting" back to a UEL? I used to work with a guy with a legit, E85 gulping 475 WHP WRX (late 2000s vintage) who swore up and down that running a UEL robs power for the super cool sound. Is there any truth to this?

I think if you can afford that boat, you have a staff of carb syncers to do it for you!

I would assume the middle section of the highway was specially laid (there is a grass median seen in the distance) so it is likely safe to assume this section was built for this in mind.

Given the gravity of airlines lying to their regulators, the harshness seems to make sense.

I love that they started with a crummy mid-2000s Outback. Nice job!

My recollection is the belts are on the *back* of the engine too, making things more fun.

nope, only The Passat, at least in the US.

Styling and size. B7 is larger, not quite as good looking IMO. 2.0L turbo AFAIK most the same.

All I remember is some documentary of a cosmonaut who was in the Almaz and said he was convinced they'd all die if they fired it. Left an impression with me that the idea maybe was not entirely baked!

That was a Ford 302 in a 740 by a professional shop, Converse Engineering. Leno had one too, I believe.

I'm with you, except that you can get some really good food in Austin. But then again, any Texan, and Travis county resident will tell you: "Austin isn't Texas".

Ditto. Saw this with my Dad and we both flinched in the first corner of the first track scene which I believe was at Homestead. IIRC the film opens with a IMAX sized chicken, which was also really awesome.

Re: boxer burble. A side effect of equal length headers/exhaust tubing. More power, but you lose the very wonderful burble of the old-style un-equal length exhaust. Classic conundrum of sound/cool factor vs. better engineering.

I vaguely remember watching a show with a DFV-based car running around and a mention of a ~ 40k rebuild after not all that many hours of operation. So I think you at least need to be a low millionaire ;)
