It's called circumstance and nuance. If the woman wants to give the child up for adoption, an umarried father should not be able to block the process. If she wants to keep the child and he wants any part of it, he should be responsible for child support.

The quote here doesn't do justice to what he was saying. He actually said that women don't ovulate sometimes because they are stressed out about it. He tells them to have a glass of wine and then get it on.

I'm guessing he didn't want custody, he wanted her to have custody so that he would be allowed to visit and have some kind of rom-com rekindling of a relationship that was never meant to be all the while having as little to do with the hard parts of raising a child.
