That’s not entirely fair, not only did they put in thousands of hours of volunteer work but they did it all non profit. The only reason they did it and the only reason we played it is it was our ONLY way to play a game that we love, the vast majority of us would happily pay Blizzard a subscription fee to play legacy…

Speaking for myself and I don’t pretend to be the majority. I had a subscription to retail wow and a pre order to their next expansion and I have cancelled both now. I enjoyed Nostalrius far more but was happy to pay Blizzard still as I understood I was technically still playing ‘their’ game.
