I’ve been on this planet 50 years, during all of which a population of 1.6 million (the Dakotas) has had twice as many votes on the choice of Supreme Court justices as a population of 40 million (CA). How stupid is that?

anyone who approves the shooting of unarmed palestinians is not a good person

the mental image of Jay Gruden and Alex Smith participating in debauchery is good

actually apathy triumped over hate

wow that sixers trade was bad.   even with Malone in decline

that’s almost certainly what will happen.  starting from scratch is far more expensive, and n00bs couldnt figure out the existing tech infrastructure efficiently

That’s a Chick-ism.

(Chick Hearn created that phrase)

‘Working within the system’ isnt working, as you might have noticed, so yeah, more radical options should be weighed. In the mathematical limit, the Electoral College allows 21% of the population to pick a winner. Constitutional Amendment can be blocked by <10% of the population. And the Senate filibuster allows 10%

California is vastly underpowered relative to its population in the federal government thanks to the Senate, the Amendment process, and the electoral college.   These structural problems are difficult to change working within an undemocratic system, perhaps the threat of losing a huge tax base would be enough to

you are right that they probably wont agree to it when they have a perceived advantage

my take is that the wobbly infrastructure of the constitution has to break badly before people will consider fixing it properly.   but then again i favor secession of my state :/

FYI, It’s never been weighted ‘against the GOP’ in my lifetime, they have dominated court nominations since Nixon.   Sometimes Dem-controlled Senates can force them to appoint moderate GOPers, like when Bork was dinged in favor of Kennedy

Supreme Court term limits are something I think both sides might agree to

the final ep has really good writing, im sure the story at least will be come out someday, even if the episode is never made

it wasnt like that in reality.  most people went back to their desks and lingered for a while

no unemployment benefits if you quit.  of course everyone still there is looking for jobs now regardless

my prediction is that nobody will step in.   the timeframe for doing so has already almost expired, noone else besides the original employees/infrastructure can complete it for a reasonable cost.   2 years from now the ep. scripts will leak on internet

‘hotter water’?   the company has no money left.   final closure will be in a few weeks if not days

was hoping for more stories about lifting weights with Squee.
