That video is of idiots testing a Volvo WITHOUT the ‘pedestrian protection’ which is an optional package. Google what went wrong with that video, Even Jalopnik covered that story.

That car does not have the pedestrian detection/auto braking system installed, it can’t fail if it’s not there to start with. Just an idiot owner.
Just to be a wee bit pedantic, in the first one the system was not enabled by accident, and in the second the XC60 does not have the pedestrian detection system installed at all, and it would’ve been overridden by the driver accelerating anyway, it’s just some moron driving into people.
While the first one is funny, the second one is operator error. The vehicle didn’t have the optional automated braking system.
