Drone implies autonomy. To call a remote controlled craft a drone is incorrect. If a human has to control it to fly, it is not a drone. However drones can accept commands from human operators, but their actual flight controls would still need to be autonomous to be considered a drone.

I think it's because of the sensor shape and orientation. Even though the lense is round the sensor behind it is rectangular.
