At the youth level, raw physical athleticism is going to be the main, almost only factor that determines who’s the best at almost every sport.

Even then, I don’t buy it. Different sports take different skills. Even if general concepts like hand-eye and hand-foot coordination are, in a very general sense translatable from sport to sport, it takes time to forge them into actual game specific skills.
