They never learn.Remember the mad dash to get smaller cars out in 2008.How quickly they forget  they got burned by the recession .It wouldn’t have hurt Ford to keep just 1 sedan, hell they sold 200k+ Focuses and Fusions in 2015-2017.Yea,cant have that, just not enough money in it.

Automakers pivot towards making cars people don’t want to buy, then are surprised when people are not buying their cars. Surprised pikachu face

And what does that have to do with government mandates? Honda sold 200,000 Civics alone in 2023. Were they exempted from these onerous government mandates?

Ford outer voice: “And we believe we can compete in segments of small cars and vehicles, more affordable vehicles in a unique way that’s Ford.”

American car makers never did have good foresight. Always counting hypothetical imaginary chickens before they hatched. I make decent money and can afford an new expensive truck. But I will never, ever spend that much money on an domestic product. And I have no actual need for a truck or full size SUV. Customers

When exactly did the government mandate the killing of small hatchbacks and sedans?

No, the manufacturers are run by shortsighted people who chase quarterly profits. The government didn’t have much at all to do with it.

The government didn’t mandate that Ford kill off all of its affordable offerings. Ford was simply following the cynical “build less, charge more” pricing model that a number of car manufacturers thought they could get away with in the wake of pandemic supply chain issues.

Seems like we went through this in the ‘90s. Sedans were ignored and left to wither on the vine; Explorers and Grand Cherokees and pickups got all the attention and money. Short attention span, these C-suite types have.

You bring up a good point. BUT. Counterpoint. The design of the 911 is so influential and ubiquitous that it had the opposite effect on other carmakers wanting to copy it. If any other car maker tried to implement this particular shape regardless of engine placement, they’d be called out for trying to copy the 911.

The 911. It’s the benchmark for sportscars and supercars even today.

I mean of course right, the biggest heaviest vehicles will have the lowest mpg along with the largest fuel tanks.

Unsurprisingly, the list is exclusively comprised of full sized pickups and SUVs. Who could have seent this coming?

Get a lawyer is almost always the answer. Don’t admit guilt, get a court date, and if it’s bad enough, hire a lawyer. I had a 5-point ticket disappear when my lawyer negotiated a deal where I attended traffic school. I completed the course and my violation got dismissed. It was well worth the $800 I paid.

A one time $225 is definitely cheaper than getting your insurance premium being raised by 10-20% for the next 3-5 years. I likely would have accepted the double parking charge instead and moved on with my day. But knowing me, I would have hired a lawyer instead so I wouldn’t have to show up to court myself.

I think it’s sad commentary that much of this advice rightfully reads like advice for an encounter with a rabid wild animal.

Depending on your insurance company, $255 may be less expensive than two points. Depending on how many points you already have, it may be a lot less expensive.

At what point do you drop your pants and bend over?

I’ll take “Obvious Shit for $500, Alex”

8) If you do get a ticket, do NOT become belligerent or abusive, that might well lead to you handcuffed in the back of a patrol car or escalate to a bunch of terminal bullet holes in your body.
