Firesuits aside, Im not sure why their cage is being labeled as ‘half assed’ when it clearly saved their butts in a 200mph wreck.

I feel bad for Evans. The defensiveness of these tweets makes it seem like all the haters, and they have been vocal, are getting to him. Not that he should be surprised- I don’t think anyone coming in to “replace” living legend Clarkson would have been warmly received.

Unpopular opinion:

If all goes according to plan, Ben will be back later this week for a Jalopnik Q&A about his new book (which is awesome, I’m currently reading it), Top Gear, racing, drivin’ real fast, and anything else you want to ask him about!

I cringe everytime I see a street car with a cage. Often coupled with no padding of any kind, and no side bolstering to keep the driver in place. One good slide sideways and there’s going to be broken ribs caused by door bars.

They would then sue that Walker died from injuries sustained in hitting his head on said roll cage bc he wasn’t wearing a proper harness and helmet.

I just bought a MK7 GTI on Saturday. Why buy one? It’s a very nice, fast, and fun car for the money. I honestly have no concerns of warranty coverage or serviceability in the future. VW isn’t going anywhere.

Do you even read? It was Bruno Senna so you know a pro driver who is in Formula E, races now for McLaren at Le Man, and was in F1 also.

But, Alanis... What about the Mint 400?

That’s my point. Lower the cost a bit, boost the interest and frequency of use of it, build an actual brick and mortar concession to get a few extra bucks, and turn that ship around. It’s so expensive now that it’s rarely ever used.

Since its British Top Gear, I think a more British comparison is what we need.

My father was a Porsche/Audi/VW salesman and is still a PCA HPDE driving instructor. He ALWAYS feared test drives more than instructing on a track.

This car isn’t aimed at you then, or anyone who goes “hurp a durp but I could do this or that for way less.” This car is aimed at people with too much money who just want the fast shiny car that is in someway better than their rich neighbors fast shiny car.

I would have mistaken those tires for Hankooks too.

Whew. Good thing he has that “PAGANI” plate. Totally thought it was a Corolla until I saw it.

Look at how far the engine is forward of the front axle!

I think most people share that perception of the ex-hosts, for what it’s worth. Chris Harris has the potential to be very good on Top Gear, like I said above, but he has yet to thoroughly test himself in the co-presenter role. He is entertaining to car people in the videos that he has been in, in which he has

If it breaks that early at Daytona, Sebring is going to eat it.

I have heard about those mythical beasts, but never seen one in person. My Outback XT was one of only two in the entire state with a manual transmission, when I purchased it in ‘06.

I agree. I really like the Crosstrek a lot, but the underpowered engine and CVT basically kill it, for me. I used to have an ‘06 Outback XT which was nearly perfect. Plenty of power, decent space, good ground clearance, and it had the 5-speed manual. The newer Outbacks have just gotten too large and truck-like. The
