“We don’t give a shit about times on a test track.”

Nice google find! Maybe that’s why I remembered it (being from VA, it may have been on local news at the time.) Wonder what other cool stuff she’s had...

From memory, she had a Lamborghini Diablo at one point. It was purple, perhaps one of the 30th(?) anniversary models.

+1, lifelong Virginian here & have had dozens of state inspections on the 2-4 cars I own/buy/sell in any given year. Can’t remember the last time I paid anything more than the $16. Find a place more trustworthy, and check the car yourself before you roll it in.

Philly? ~1hr from NJMP or ~3hrs from Summit Point. Doooo it

And sadly still 2-3x the price of a 330 ZSP which is 99% the same car.

They really are great cars... until you drive an E46 M3 ;-)

I like the look but it’s still out of my price range. Agree with whoever said a 2-series ZHP would be more up my alley. Although a least it has a limited slip diff this time, unlike the underwhelming E46 version!

I think this is my issue with the whole phenomenon: spending time and money to make a car ride and handle worse than stock...

Regarding the clown shoe... “This one, while not the M model, is the next best thing and doesn’t have the ridiculous repair costs associated with anything from BMW’s Motorsport division.”

Early last week? Pretty sure I saw this car on 95N, north of Richmond. Very cool!

Same here, I drove a non-PP at VIR and it pushed like a pig. Can't wait to see if the PP car is better

Good stuff, congrats! I picked up the same car in silver minus the lighting package a couple weeks ago. Huge step up from my '14 Focus ST in terms of quality and comforts, I don't even know where to start the list of what I like better. Haven't put many miles on it yet so can't speak to performance, but hopefully

Amen. I wanted to love these cars, then I drove one and said... “Wow, it feels sorta like a hardtop S2000 without all the power up top, on crap tires.” Haven’t given ‘em much thought since. But agreed that more power would help a lot, and real tires.

Lol I wondered the same thing considering those speeds, especially when I saw that “spared nothing” description above. Spared nothing except safety equipment? (Also note the shoulder harnesses going right through a rollbar that could/should have a harness bar but doesn’t... to a rear shelf mount.)

Now playing

Surprised this one didn't make the list... starring an E39 M5, and Madonna:

I stopped watching after about 4 minutes because, well, it was like watching a dashcam of every single time I drive anywhere in Virginia or Florida. Or Maryland. Or North Carolina. Or Ohio.

I also see plate-blurring in pics of street cars on road courses. You know, while doing a high performance driving school with an instructor, so there won't be any insurance or warranty concerns - no matter how remote that chance may be. (Although anyone really worried about it probably removed or covered said plates

Conversely: the camera car's technique, I'd guess, was from a driver with some "track day bro" experience for sure. I say this because of his quick, efficient reaction. It's a simple 2-off around the BMW, nice and easy and clean. That usually only comes with experience and advanced car control skills, typically gained

The road car version knocked 190 kilos out of the car (from 1370 to 1180), which is pretty impressive given that it has what looks like a full roll cage. Ferrari didn't go for a sissy half cage like you get in a Porsche RS.
