Yay! Congrats!
Yay! Congrats!
For such a small thing, babies can be downright intimidating, especially when you’re a first-time parent. Infants…
Want to put on some muscle? Deadlift, squat, bench press and repeat. You can workout for years doing just those 3 things and make continuous progress.
I second 5x5. Its damn easy to follow and by the time you top out of it you’ll have a better grasp on what your goals are. Also, no one has ever gotten accidental swolle. You’ve got to work real hard for the swolle.
I’d recommend the Stronglifts 5x5 workout. It’s not so brutal that you can’t do other things, but it WILL boost your metabolism through the roof, and you’ll make some muscle mass gains as well.
You’ll probably want to consume most of those additional calories from protein. Like duckfan says, slow and incremental.
It’s been said already. Slowly raise your calories in 200-5oo increments. But also get a workout program that focuses on strength building. Focus on compound lifts, low reps, and many sets. Keeping trying to add weight how ever you can. Even using assistance if you must. Just youtube it and see what other plans gain…
Try to do it slowly, only adding about 200-300 calories to your maintenance caloric needs.
Actually, I concede to this. :) Auto-didacts who are super anal about measuring and understand the limitations of calorie counting could probably benefit from counting calories from exercise...as long as they don’t use it to justify a change in their original plans. e.g. when I’d run 6 miles and really really wanted a…
Between NYCANUCK and myself; at least two :P
Completely agree with this. I use the exact same set up (Charge HR and MFP) and it has made a HUGE difference for me. Setting up my macros correctly (thank you again, Mr.Talens) has made a tremendous difference in what and how much I eat.
So do you stick to a strict 1200 calorie a day diet? Or do you consume more calories on the days that you go for a run?
I’m with you! I’ve never been overweight, but once my metabolism started slowing down, I used MyFitnessPal to help curb my crappy eating habits and worked like a charm. Thinking about food in terms of calories (and other nutritional value) has absolutely helped me maintain a healthy weight, which includes weekly…
I’ve lost 15 lbs since February (and I’m a lady over 40 who has had a child, so all the metabolic cards are stacked against me) using a Fitbit ChargeHR and the LoseIt app. I just ignore the calorie “credit” LoseIt gives me from Fitbit. I stick to the same calorie budget very day, regardless of exercise.
Great job on the weight loss! I think you are spot on about making sure you set the optimal settings. I use a MFP and a MSFT Band for tracking and just passed 18 lbs myself.
Why it may be a waste: Just because a little is good, doesn’t mean more is better. If you have your bases covered, adding extra vitamins won’t do anything. Most studies that involve giving people multivitamins find that the multi’s don’t help, on average. Is that because we have a hard time absorbing the nutrients…
Could you share the sardine sandwich recipe?
Yes, the struggle is definitely an ongoing thing. Thanks for the tip!
