Except that Dumbledore being gay added all kinds of subtext to a lot of his scenes, particularly the entirety of his backstory in Deathly Hallows. You're right, though, that this revelation means jack-squat to the stories as they are now. The only people this will affect are people still trying to grind out fanfiction.
