Always happy to take a sentimental journey with you, Jerry! Right now I've got Dover bluebirds and Berkeley Square nightengales on my mind! Pass me a rum and Coca-Cola, please!

For my money, there’s no better time period in American Popular Song than WW2. While taking a cabaret master class, I was advised to explore another time period, as it seemed that everything in my book was from 1939 - 1945. I find revisiting these songs to be especially comforting today. We will meet again - by the way…
Fry that garlic!
Cooking and baking waaaaay too much! Today I wanted to use up some bananas but I’m sick of banana bread, so I made banana and pineapple bread, and used coconut oil instead of butter. It’s so moist, I’m afraid I did not bake it enough? I’m not sure if I like it or not, it’s kind of weird and surprisingly bland.
Is it Planes, Trains and Automobiles?
The kid and I had PB&J on leftover hamburger buns, and a side of pretzel sticks. She had a glass of milk and I had 3 Mandarin oranges. While she was in online “school,” I snuck downstairs and ate the last brownie. She's gonna be pissed, but my PMS carb craving is unstoppable.
So much good looking food in "The Godfather!" Gimme all of that pasta.
Everyone should buy a Honda Fit. I promise you’ll love it. We have two Fits that are 10 years apart in age, and they are the best. You’ll have to work to find one with a manual transmission, but they can be found - both of ours are manuals.
Not knowing who these people are is a gift. Embrace it.
I’m very uncomfortable with this as well. My family is not at any more risk than anyone else - nobody is immunocompromised or has other significant health issues. Why would I willingly put someone else at risk to do my grocery shopping when I can do it myself?
Im just here to point out how stunning Meghan looks in that turquoise dress. Great color on her!
Yes! I swear I’m going to weigh 900 pounds when this all blows over, but I’ve been having lots of fun cooking. Today I made the chickpea/ditalini stew recipe that was in the NYT (tasty but not as good as a similar recipe I serve over couscous). Two nights ago I baked a chicken basted with Marmite (quite tasty, and it…
One of the saddest things I saw at BCR was a sign on one of the enclosure that read something like, “It is a crime for people to keep me as a pet, but I’m the one who went to jail." Broke my heart and really drove the message home.
That bottom photo could have been taken in the kitchen of my childhood home. So. Much. Goldenrod. Exactly the same brown cabinets too. Looked great with the orange shag rug in the adjoining den.
Agreed, and I have to point out that the audition sequence is one of the best glimpses of real theatre life ever portrayed on film. It's heart wrenching, funny, masterful and so genuine it gives me chills. I can't stand most of the rest of this movie, but I watch that audition montage on YouTube several times a year,…
I’m probably not going to watch this documentary because it sounds super upsetting. However, I’ve been to Big Cat Rescue, and I thought it was wonderful. I came away believing in their mission to care of big cats who were unfortunate enough to end up as pets and in circuses and zoos. The general feeling at BCR is that…
When I moved to New Orleans over 30 years ago, a couple of people who lived in my grad school housing building and I went to a large music club. This place was not within walking distance of our building, and it was August. Id never been to New Orleans before and had never experienced such heat and humidity in my life.
It was a constant presence in our house when my almost 12 year old was 3. We loved it so much, and have been known to watch it now and again today! We also loved Timmy Time!
These are wonderful!!!! I especially love your Shaun the Sheep guys!
This seems less about kids’ safety and more about school liability. The school doesn’t want to be sued if a kid gets hit walking across the street. I’m with you, I think this is ridiculous, but then again - I walked 2 miles to school from first grade through fifth. Half of this was on a path through the woods, and I…
