I think it has more to do with the music industry vs the film industry. Music has always been more diverse and accepting to creative and individual expression. The film industry expects you to, no irony intended but, “play a role”. Its snooty and bougie. I think it has more to do with that.

It is bad for the girl who does not get the praise (and I’m sure your 6y.o. is adorable,) as it makes them feel ugly and devalued, but it also hurts the one praised as it teaches them their value is based…

Great post!! So true. And I think aside from culture, language is huge. If a man is second or third generation he may date but will only consider marriage with a woman he can speak his native tongue with and teach to their children. I have experienced this with Spanish men more than once.
