What if ... Clint Howard was handsome?

This was awesome! Random Roles is probably the best recurring piece that the AVClub still rolls out from time to time.

Well, thank god for Will Harris and Random Roles and the other improvements to the site, is all I have to say.

Where the fuck is Critters??

Seriously, it takes real skill to get that across in writing.

I would have loved to hear about that bizarre Wheel of Time pilot he starred in (if I recall correctly, I think it only existed as a ploy for someone to keep the rights?)

Agreed.  He deserved more leading man roles.

I’ve always thought Zane was a fantastic actor and never really achieved the level of stardom that he should have. This was a great piece.

I’ll read anything she writes, but I’ll be thrilled if she revisits the world of Strange and Norell; at one point she said she was working on a story that would focus on the lower class members of that world.

Well, it may still be on Kinja, but we’re back!

Success doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have someone to share it with.

I haven’t read it (sounds really good, though, might need to), but I’m all in on this bounty of stop motion we’ve had lately.

I enjoyed the novel, though it’s light on plot. The central idea is wonderful and very visual. This’ll work.

Clarke sadly suffers from Chronic fatigue syndrome which is why her output isn’t as prolific could be. Still, she’s now working on a new novel apparently, so hopefully that will be out in a few years time.

Oh, this was such wonderful book. I’ll be interested to see what they do with it.

Another vote for watching the series. I think you can find it on youtube. Just a great adaptation.

Can’t wait. Piranisi was a uniquely intriguing book and Susanna Clarke is an outstanding writer (though not very prolific). Glad that they are going with something like stop-motion rather than live-action. It *could* be done live action, but this feels like the right choice

Totally agree with Milligna000 — The series that they made of Jonathan Strange & Mr, Norrell was excellent and perfectly cast. An example of getting it exactly right.

Um, go run out and watch the series. It’s literally one of the best adaptations I’ve ever seen. The changes they make are very smart to help tell the story, nothing done just for the hell of it.

Nearly a decade ago, the BBC did a JS & Mr. N miniseries starring Bertie Carvel and Eddie Marsan . I haven’t seen it myself but reviews have been positive.
