Nonso Anozie as Sam’s dad was wonderful & a nice surprise! I loved him on CBS’s Zoo. He is perfect for this show, with his imposing but warm presence.

For all her association with mediocre time travel romances, Rachel McAdams is really good. In the Canadian series Slings & Arrows she played an actress who gets a big break playing Ophelia in a production of Hamlet & she convincingly nailed it. 

In the Legends of Tomorrow episode that is an homage to ET they have to go back in time to prevent the government from dissecting the baby alien and killing young Ray Palmer who was trying to protect him because of course they would

Parker Posey is wonderful. Her line reading of “I want to be a librarian” in Party Girl might be my favorite line reading of all time
