The research is only starting to gel, but there are plenty of hints that COVID can cause cognitive impairment.
I forgot that it was Joe Biden who, during a primary debate in 2008, said “There’s only three things he mentions in a sentence: a noun, a verb and 9-11.”
Odds he beats this are 9 to 11.

It’s obviously fiction. I mean, who would think that in the modern era a major first world country would still have hereditary monarchs as official heads of state? That’s straight-up Middle-Earth style fantasy.

Now I’m the one who missed the joke, which is also ironic. It’s been so long so now I read one of the books that I had it in my head that he always depicted cows as kind of dumb, which was definitely wrong.
Its a riff on the marketing for Carnation Evaporated Milk which advertised itself as coming from “Contented Cows.”
“From Contented Cows” is (or for many years was) printed on the label of every can of Carnation condensed or evaporated milk. “Contented Cows Give Better Milk” was later the title of a corporate leadership book, which is pretty gross if you think about it even a little bit.
