Maybe Gordon is *arcing*… Becoming more like Joe while Joe is at Gordon's house being more like Gordon? Yin and yang: Distinct from each other, yet contained in each other.

The funny thing is that I don't think you need to get "caught up". The character arcs over the last few episodes have been minimal at best.
