Pity that the people getting the wage increase are going to jealously horde every penny and drive to other states to spend it all. All those wages, lost because mean ol’ workers will refuse to spend any of their income in the area they work and live.
Already a thing - it was trendy for a while, but still present. I’ve seen a note on a menu that more or less said “We pride ourselves on providing a living wage and health benefits to our employees. Tipping is not encouraged nor required.”
And we can do away with tipping since they’ll be making a living wage.
my permanent motto for this is simple:
If everyone is making $20 an hour, then they can afford to raise their menu prices to cover the hike because more people will be able to afford to eat out.
Honestly, this comes across as the words of somebody who doesn’t live or work in a red or even warm blue district. The reality Nancy Pelosi is familiar with that I genuinely get the sense that most progressives don’t understand is that most of the biggest wins in 2018 were moderate Democrats winning red districts.
