I'm aware that Buting and Strang had to find new clients, I understand that they lost money representing him. I think I read somewhere also that because of the way American law works (I'm English), they couldn't keep representing him through certain appeals, but I may have misread it.

I do believe they tampered with the evidence. Why did they go to such lengths, and in such a flawed way? We can only guess.

Oh, there's a lot wrong with the whole thing, lack of blood, remains being scattered all over the place, no DNA, etc.

I've just finished watching today, and my first impression was that they were framed. I do believe that the police and prosecution had it out for Avery, and they allowed that to rule how they did their "jobs". Believed it was the ex boyfriend, or one of Steve's brothers/nephews.
