It is a fantasy epic with some western mythos tossed in.
It’s been like this in Hollywood since the beginning. The Suits run the show, control the money, but are cluessess when it comes to the creative aspect of film. They think they know, but they don’t. They need to just stfu and write the checks.

Not true in the least. There were several really good comic book films that lots of people went to see in the years before Iron Man was released. First 2 Spider-Mans, First 2 X-Mens, 300, V For Vendetta, Sin City, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Hellboy.

Marvel Studios is the co-producer for Homecoming so I don’t know what your friend’s problem is with the film is at this point. Until we see it, he should have confidence that Marvel Studios has done due diligence with the character and the storyline so Sony won’t fuck it up.
