Yeah, and if we use 500,000 people per representative, the least populous states would still have only a single representative, but California would have 78 representatives instead of 53. I think a lot of people would be on board with this.

Thing is, the electors are supposed to vote with how the voters voted in their respective states. So not voting for the candidate that won the most votes in their state is actually NOT doing their job.

The Democratic and Republican parties may pay lip service in wanting to move toward a popular vote contest for the presidential election, but I don’t think they actually would push for it because I think they could become obsolete/far less powerful on the national level(which I think might be a good thing).
