Long enough or no, this is a potentially disasterous move from Sony. Remember how well green lighting nearly every significant PSP exclusive for the PlayStation 2 worked out? And that was entirely “in ecosystem”.

I had one! Played so much River Raid and Missile Command, as well as the Bug Hunt light gun game.

I took so much advantage of console rentals growing up. Left my Genesis at home when I went to my grandparent’s house one weekend.. rented one. After a slumber party, a friend left some SNES games at my house.. rented one.

Good times! Next Gen was one of my favorite magazines and I had a subscription. I remember sitting in my dad’s truck thumbing through that Jan 97 issue with the black Net Yaroze PS1 (that was essentially a dev kit) on the cover. I played the heck out of that game and still have my copy.

The Saturn is my favorite console for that generation. While the PS1 is a JRPG powerhouse, I don’t feel like most games have aged well for that generation. Meanwhile, I constantly pop in a game from the Saturn, when you include the Japanese library. The Saturn has a ton of great arcade ports, as well as one of a kind…
