I would love to see Splatoon 2 become a legit eSport with large tournaments and such. I feel like it’s a game I could actually be decent at on a competitive level. When I was a kid we would go to the mall, eat Chinese food and dad would take us to Alladin’s castle and we’d play games til we ran out of tokens.

I think the thing to remember is that the vast, vast base of Call of Duty players were drawn in by Modern Warfare and the ilk, where it is realistic warfare with contemporary weapons. Enemies are Russian, Chinese, etc. People who wanted Call of Duty, expect realistic (albeit gamified) weapons.
