I see this story as the preface of a future biography titled "Portrait of a Serial Killer: Pickle Edition". (First line: "In hindsight, there were so many warning signs…")

In all seriousness, I've recently been expecting that Super 8 is going to be retconned into the Cloverfield universe (er, multiverse), which I guess fits with your theory.
"…before “fake news” become it’s own ridiculous kind of bullshit"
I've only been half-invested in the series so far, for whatever reason, but Floria Sigismundi's skills at direction have snapped me to attention like I was a broken rubber band. I'm truly surprised to see her episodes rated lower than the others when they're the ones where I was pushed all in.
"All Time Low" from Hesitation Marks is pretty close to BeeGees. His voice goes full eunuch.
On the first episode, I wrote: "Quill is one of the few worthwhile characters on the show. She's a wonderful bully, there to challenge the main cast who are made up exclusively of ludicrous emo London brats. Even the Shadowking seems like he's a dopey poutmouth waiting for a pacifier."
On a related note: if Margaret Qualley doesn't get her own dance number this season I'm going to be kind of upset.

Good. St. Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman was Wild Horseshit.
I don't see this as a placeholder episode, since there is significant forward motion on two major plotlines (discovery of the atomic bomb, discovery of Thomas's condition), and the resolution of one minor plot (the forgeries).
With ease, apparently.
"…there’s no ground to complain on, because just like the first season, whatever weaknesses are there are browbeaten to the point where, by the end, they seem like nitpicking in the face of something truly special."

A smart observation. Get in the incinerator.
To make an odd comparison, I enjoyed SS roughly to the same degree that I enjoyed Ghostbusters or Age of Ultron. These films are all flawed, and all flawed in different ways, but (for me) they were equally entertaining.
The first comment in this subthread made a better version of that joke, and it still wasn't funny. Hang your head in shame.
This actually makes me happy. I don't even know what kind of niche nerd that makes me. Cinephile? Comedy geek? Pie whore?
"Nothing else matters" also works as a reasonable description of their first season.
I found Carmen Sandiego! She's in Italy!
Eva Green is the sexiest grumpy-looking lady there is. Like Garfield, but hot, is what I'm saying.
