Perhaps for the countless caregivers out there feeling lonely, isolated, hopeless and destroyed and not knowing how to put in some self-care while they’re taking care of their loved one. I’m sure he knew there would be backlash, but this is an important discussion to have, especially with our aging population.

Thank you for this compassionate response and I hope others listen to you. I think people forget that being a caregiver, especially with Alzheimer’s which can go on for years and years with no hope for a cure, can be devasting. They deserve happiness and help. I see nothing wrong this, it is not a betrayal of love.
