Except it’s nothing like American Adaptations, or just poor adaptations in general. It’s a liberal localization.

I don’t care either way about it and have no opinion on it, but it was definitely not some universally loved mechanic. A lot of hardcore fans of FE HATED it because they felt FE was too serious to have it (which you can agree or disagree with) and the director of Smash even wrote an article in Famitsu defending it…
Love the site for their articles and focus on Japanese games, which I love, but good god are the commenters there horrid
While you’re right, that interview is old, so far we’ve seen NOTHING to suggest that Treehouse or Nintendo are changing things without the consent of the original developers.
Like, it’s fine if you want to have that opinion (though I think it’s overblown; they’re acting as if the pickle guy was this awesome guy in the Japanese version and the localizers changed him to randomly like pickles, when he was actually just a super generic boring guy who did like pickled vegetables in the Japanese…
That’ll show them to take out dual audio! We have ALL the leverage now!
Another article said Fates as a whole sold 5x better than Awakening, so even if they split it I’d imagine it did a lot better than Awakening (maybe Birthright sold 3x that of Awakening and Conquest sold 2x that of Awakening)
Yeah, I definitely prefer Tactic’s version of death. If FE had that option? Would 100% keep that on.
I mean, how much does the story actually get impacted by character deaths, is the thing? In Awakening, if a character that’s important dies then they’re just “injured” and unusable. I think the Tellus games do but it’s not 100% in all of them.
If you put out the poll pre-Awakening (or other games that had no permadeath, if there were any) the poll would skew towards permadeath but the number of people actually answering said poll would be a lot smaller. By giving people the option, IS basically said that they now “accept” no permadeath as a legitimate way…
Absolutely no permadeath. I’m 100% fine with FFT’s permadeath (you get like 3 turns to revive or they’re gone forever) but I would pull my hair out if I had to do FE’s permadeath.
Man I hope this sells well so they keep making Digimon Story games and localizing them, and ESPECIALLY add in a ton more Digimon.
I mean, at least you’re open about it, which is kinda refreshing
...right, nothing I said really denies any of that
I’m like 99% sure you can choose the name
As someone who loved Awakening, it’s weird but I felt that the first 6 chapters (haven’t gotten past that) are REALLY hammy, and the pacing just felt weird. And my character is surprisingly talkative (which for some reason feels weird even though I’m pretty sure Awakening’s MU was talkative too, but I played him as an…
This ALSO isn’t a change to the original character. His mod doesn’t change every single game and mention of Link. His game does not completely 100% forever change Link for EVERYONE. It’s a personal mod.
How fucking DARE you!
So it’s completely OK that I decided to name Link Penis in LTTP, when the game asked me to name my character? That’s OK to you?
I’ve also seen parents of kids this generation be absolutely shitty abusive parents, but man the older generations sure were better!
