Xenoblade and DQ8 are completely different in terms of graphical prowess. Much easier to do cel-shading well on the 3DS than it is to do Xenoblade on the 3DS, and Xenoblade already was a fairly meh-looking game on the Wii.

Well, if the female character is just an obvious pander and poorly done they deserve it. If they actually put thought into it (the same amount of thought they’d put into a normal mail protagonist) there wouldn’t be much backlash. Just because they put in a female doesn’t mean they’re automatically absolved of criticism

Geralt is and isn’t a blank slate. You can choose the choices he makes but he does have a backstory and is an established character. It’s more a choice between several different Geralts.
