I think that at this point, at least in the US, manufacturers understand that the manual transmission is only an enthusiast choice, and even among enthusiast vehicles the take rate is pretty low.

One of my favorite 90s-2000s design trends is the tiny desk built into the cabinetry of the open kitchen which is just barely big enough to fit a period correct desktop and nothing else.
