This has shades of the bullshit Maui costume controversy a few years back. You remember that one, where shitheads were saying that white kids shouldn’t be able to dress up as another race to emulate one of their heroes (which seems like a step in the right direction to me).

Your comment is getting a lot of vitriolic responses, I did not want to contribute to them with my initial response.

Just cause someone gets offended, does not mean they are right.

What you are saying sounds a lot like western culture in it’s sensitivity towards this topic is superior to Lithuanian culture, and she as a minority there are only 3 million Lithuanians should follow American values/rules?

“As it stands, white people wearing dark makeup to appear black is the continuation of a practice tied to the mocking of black people, and often enslaved Africans, in the US.”

Judging a Lithuanian who wants to be a black hero by your own convoluted culture doesn’t seem just. And it’s flawed logic to say that it offended some black person somewhere and we shouldn’t offend anyone because it also offended some white supremacist or some religious wackadoo somewhere who thinks it’s disgusting to

yeah but she’s not in the US is she? Russia? somewhere in eastern Europe?

I’m starting to feel like we’re getting to a point where nothing is allowed. I mean, the context here, for example. She isn’t making fun of black people in any way. She’s trying to remain true to the character, who happens to be black. It would be one thing if she had done something deliberately offensive, but she’s

Congratulations, you’ve regurgitated the same short-sighted argument that’s been made by Epic apologists since day one. We get it, you personally don’t care about Steam’s numerous benefits. Good for you. Millions of people do care about those benefits and see them as added value to any game they own. When a game is

Even more so, depending on how exactly you quantify Tencent’s 48% stake in Epic, they are one of, if not the biggest companies in the world.

People who are sticking up for Epic like they are some small company sticking up for the lowly game devs by giving them more money (despite that money actually going to the Publishers) confuse me. Like how do they not get that Epic is big and can only afford to do this because they take a cut of nearly every game

It bums me out that you are out there somewhere, genuinely convinced you made a good point.

Because it’s yet another account I have to manage and keep track of; another potential headache down the line when their aggressive push for market share results in an oopsie woopsie because they had to rush to jury-rig together the store front they wanted; another digital store front that is well within their right

Because it offers almost no benefit over Steam, Blizz-store, Uplay, Origin?

Exclusivity isn’t platform-limited. It can be limited by any kind of factor. If the Epic Games store is the only store selling a digital product, then they have complete control over the price and how that product can be used. That’s obviously exclusivity by any reasonable definition. (That being said, the same thing

If you don’t get it, then post your name, zip code code, phone number and credit card info right here. So far no one who says they “don’t get it” has taken me up on my offer. Will you have the balls to be first?

I will disagree with you saying that Tencent giving data data to the Chinese government is outlandish. It’s pretty well understood in national security circles that if a major Chinese corporation has your data, then so does the Chinese government. The line between the Chinese government and Chinese corporations is

More so with how unsecure Epic accounts can get. I am glad my account didnt get penetrated by a hack but I know so many friends who say some hacker bought items on their account. Valve may also have hackers and even scammers rampant but not to an extent Epic has. Also you could deal with it in general.

There is zero benefit to the customer when Epic nabs an exclusive for themselves, and several tangible negatives. It’s pretty straightforward to understand, and so thank you for this breakdown.

i will try. This is not an all-encompassing list, and some of it is bound to change eventually.
